ANI Photo | Will do whatever required to protect religions that worship nature: Amit Shah

Union Minister Amit Shah assured the nation on January 20 that the Central government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is committed to protecting religions that worship nature. Speaking at the 13th Triennial Conference of the All Bathou Mahasabha in Tezpur, Assam, Shah emphasized the importance of nature worship and pledged full support for such religions, particularly in the Northeast. He stated, “Nothing is greater than nature. The Narendra Modi government will spare no effort to safeguard and promote religions that worship nature. We will do whatever is necessary to protect them.”

In addition, Amit Shah criticized the Congress party, accusing it of diverting attention from critical issues in the Bodoland region to retain power, resulting in the loss of numerous lives, especially among the youth. He highlighted the historical context of the Bodoland movement, emphasizing the struggles faced by the Bodo community to preserve their culture, traditions, and land.

Shah credited the leadership of PM Modi for the Bodo Peace Accord and highlighted the positive transformation in Bodoland over the last three years. He pointed out that no incidents of violence were reported during this period, attributing the region’s peace and development to the accord.

The Union Home Minister supported his claims with statistics, stating that violence in the Northeast had decreased by 73%, while the deaths of security personnel and citizens had reduced by 71% and 86%, respectively. Amit Shah commended the efforts of the BJP-NDA government, stating that in the nine years of their rule, nine peace treaties were signed, leading to 9,000 youths abandoning violence and returning to mainstream society.

Expressing gratitude to Pramod Boro, the chief executive member of the Bodoland Territorial Council, Shah urged the people of Bodoland to practice their religion without fear and assured them that the central and Assam governments are working to strengthen ethnic religious beliefs and practices in the region. He encouraged the residents to continue their traditions without any hindrances.
