BSF jawan injured in firing by militants in Manipur

A BSF personnel sustained a bullet injury to his left shoulder during an exchange of fire at Sugnu in Kakching district and Lailoiphai village/Dongjang village in Churachandpur district of Manipur.

He was evacuated to Imphal for treatment and later discharged.

For the past week, militants have been attacking the area using bombs, mortars, and sophisticated weapons by hiding in the hilly areas. So far, three women have died while trying to escape from the area. BSF and Manipur Police tried to help the villagers, but they were fired upon by suspected Kuki militants from Churachandpur, during which a jawan sustained injuries.

Meanwhile, police launched operations in Thoubal district and seized a mortar, rifle, hand grenade, lathode bomb, and one improvised shell.
