NF Railway’s passenger reservation system counters

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NF Railway) is witnessing a surge in the adoption of cashless transactions at Passenger Reservation System counters.

Indian Railways, aligning with the government’s policy, has introduced cashless counters equipped with digital payment modes to enhance the overall experience for passengers.

The latest data reveals a substantial increase in cashless transactions, showcasing the growing popularity of digital payment methods among railway passengers.

On January 30, the cashless transactions on the NF Railway amounted to Rs 1.8 lakh, constituting 0.87% of the total transactions across the counter. However, by February 3, this figure rose to Rs 3.78 lakh, now accounting for 2.67% of the total transactions, signifying a steady upward trend.

The primary digital payment modes being encouraged at the counters are Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and Point of Sale (POS) transactions. Passengers are being actively informed and educated about the benefits of cashless transactions at various reservation counters across the NF Railway, leading to an increased number of online ticket bookings.

Expressing their gratitude towards the government’s initiative for the development of the country, passengers are embracing the ease and efficiency offered by cashless transactions.

The move towards a cashless system aligns with the broader goal of a digital economy, ensuring a smoother and more secure transaction experience for passengers.

The contribution of cashless transactions from January 31 to February 2 varies across different divisions and railway stations within the NF Railway. Some notable percentages include New Tinsukia at 53.01%, Guwahati at 73.05%, Alipurduar at 60.86%, and others, reflecting a positive response to the initiative.

Sabyasachi De, chief public relations officer for NF Railway, highlighted the progress made in promoting cashless transactions and reaffirmed the commitment to providing passengers with modern and convenient payment options.
