U Tirot Sing Memorial Inaugurated in Dhaka, Bangladesh

On February 16, in a solemn ceremony held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, the U Tirot Sing Memorial was inaugurated, commemorating the valorous legacy of U Tirot Sing Syiem, a distinguished freedom fighter from the Khasi Hills of Meghalaya. The event also witnessed the unveiling of the bust of U Tirot Sing Syiem, symbolizing his indomitable spirit and unwavering commitment to the cause of his people.

U Tirot Sing Syiem’s remarkable courage and dedication to safeguarding his land and people have earned him a place of honour as one of the fiercest freedom fighters in the region and the nation. His enduring legacy serves as a testament to his sacrifices and unwavering resolve in the face of adversity.

Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Government of India, the Indian High Commission at Dhaka, the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), and the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) for their invaluable support in realizing this commemorative endeavour.

The inauguration of the U Tirot Sing Memorial in Dhaka not only pays homage to the heroic legacy of U Tirot Sing Syiem but also strengthens the cultural ties between India and Bangladesh, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of shared histories and legacies of valour.
