Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma emphasized the crucial need to preserve indigenous languages, particularly the Koch language, and expressed commitment to address the concerns raised by the Koch community

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma joined the 54th Annual Koch Conference organized by the Meghalaya Koch Association at Jatrakona. The event saw the Chief Minister emphasizing the crucial need to preserve indigenous languages, particularly the Koch language, and expressing commitment to address the concerns raised by the Koch community.

During the conference, Conrad Sangma assured the community that their suggestion to introduce the Koch language in schools within Koch areas of Meghalaya would be taken into consideration. The Meghalaya Koch Association had submitted a memorandum focusing on capacity building for the Koch people and the preservation of their language.

In addition to these assurances, Chief Minister Sangma recommended interventions such as PRIME, CM-ELEVATE, and YESS Meghalaya for the youth of the Koch community. These initiatives are aimed at fostering skill development, entrepreneurship, and overall youth empowerment.

The Chief Minister expressed gratitude for the warm reception he received and acknowledged the love showered upon him by the Koch brothers and sisters. He highlighted the importance of working together as indigenous people for the welfare and growth of Meghalaya.

CM Conrad Sangma thanked the Meghalaya Koch Association for extending the gracious invitation, emphasizing the collaborative efforts that will uplift each other and contribute to the well-being of the indigenous communities in the state.
