Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurates centre of excellence on Panchakarma and Renovated State Pharmacy at State Ayurvedic College & Hospital in Guwahati

In a significant development for the advancement of traditional medicine, union minister of ports, shipping & waterways and Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the centre of excellence on Panchakarma and unveiled the renovated state pharmacy at the State Ayurvedic College & Hospital in Guwahati on February 24.

Addressing the gathering at the inauguration ceremony, Sarbananda Sonowal expressed his pleasure in being part of the esteemed college, which has been at the forefront of Ayurvedic education and healthcare. He highlighted the importance of the new centre of excellence on Panchakarma and the refurbished State Pharmacy in reinforcing the college’s role in contributing to the resurgent Ayush global wellness movement.

Underlining the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in revitalizing traditional medicine worldwide, Sarbananda Sonowal emphasized India’s leadership position in this endeavour. He noted the significant growth of the Ayush sector, both domestically and internationally, attributing it to the government’s efforts to modernize traditional systems of medicine while preserving their efficacy.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including Assam health and family welfare minister Keshab Mahanta and local MLAs Ramendra Narayan Kalita, Atul Bora and Siddhartha Bhattacharya.

The event also saw the participation of Ayush experts, top officials, teachers, and students.

Sonowal further highlighted the government’s commitment to expanding Ayurvedic education and healthcare infrastructure across the region, citing the establishment of new Ayurvedic colleges, hospitals, and wellness centres. He applauded the remarkable growth of the Ayush sector under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, citing the significant increase in market value and the widespread popularity of Ayush systems among the masses.

The inauguration marks a significant step forward in the promotion and advancement of Ayurveda and traditional medicine, signalling a renewed focus on holistic healthcare and wellness initiatives in the region.
