ANI Photo | UCC is anti-Quran, anti-Islam: AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal

All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief and Lok Sabha MP Badruddin Ajmal stated on Friday that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) is against the principles of the Quran and Islam, affirming his party’s opposition to it.

“We will oppose the UCC as it contradicts the teachings of the Quran, the Hadith, and the principles of Islam. It is also against the essence of all religions, including Hinduism and Christianity. Whatever steps the government takes, we will counter them,” Badruddin Ajmal remarked.

The AIUDF MP made these remarks while attending a program in Balapara near Jogighopa, Bongaigaon district.

Ajmal expressed scepticism about the INDI alliance’s viability, asserting that it has disintegrated both in Assam and Delhi.

“I predicted a year ago that this alliance would collapse, and we see it happening now. Mamata Banerjee and even AAP have distanced themselves. Soon, Akhilesh Yadav may follow suit. Assam has no unified opposition; they have all faltered,” Badruddin Ajmal added.

In another development, the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill was passed in the Uttarakhand assembly with a comfortable majority during a special session.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, during the debate on the UCC, hailed the event as historic, emphasizing the pride felt by every citizen of the state.

The bill encompasses laws concerning marriage, divorce, succession, live-in relationships, and related matters. Notably, the proposed UCC Bill mandates the registration of live-in relationships under the law.

According to the bill, live-in relationships must be registered within one month from the commencement of the relationship to comply with legal requirements.
