Vice-president Jagdeep Dhankhar will attend the 38th Statehood Day celebrations of Arunachal Pradesh at Itanagar on February 20.

VP Dhankhar will be arriving in Itanagar on his maiden visit to Arunachal Pradesh on February 20. As per the agenda released by the state administration, the vice president will reach the celebrations venue at IG Park at 2.40 pm and deliver his public address at 3.20 pm before departing for the national capital at 3.40 pm via stopover at the Governor’s House.

Among others, the Statehood Day event will be attended by Arunachal Pradesh governor Lt Gen (retd) KT Parnaik, chief minister Pema Khandu, Union minister of earth sciences Kiren Rijiju, deputy chief minister Chowna Mein, among others.

Unlike previous years, the State Awards ceremony will be held at the Raj Bhavan in Itanagar on February 21, a day after the Statehood Day event. The awards will be presented by the governor, sources said.

Meanwhile, Itanagar Capital Complex district magistrate Talo Potom has imposed Section 144 of the CrPC within a radius of 500 metres around Raj Bhavan from February 17, apprehending disturbances to public peace and tranquility.

According to the ‘order’, the assembly or gathering of more than four persons has been prohibited. It, however, exempted government officials, security forces and invitees from the said programme. The prohibitory order would remain in force till February 21.
