Indore hosts Pharma B2B Expo & Summit 2024

PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), in collaboration with the Federation of Pharma Entrepreneurs and Well Done Media Pvt Ltd, and with support of the Departments of AYUSH and MSMEs, Government of Madhya Pradesh, held the inaugural ‘Pharma B2B Expo & Summit 2024’ on February 9 at Labh Ganga Convention Centre in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

With a focus on MSMEs and exports, the ‘Pharma B2B Expo & Summit’ was officially inaugurated by deputy secretary, Department of AYUSH & Secretary-CEO, MP Medicinal Plants Board, Sanjay Kumar Mishra.

Among other key speakers were: Akash Agrawal, deputy commissioner of income tax, Ministry of Finance, Government of India; Manish Popli, IIM Indore; Santosh Kumar, SEZ, Indore and Deepak Bhandari, president, GFID, Indore.

Speaking during the summit, Sanjay Kumar Mishra reflected on the various department-level schemes and initiatives to promote the herbal and medicinal plants cultivation and extraction of herbs in Madhya Pradesh. He added that the department of AYUSH, Government of MP is working on introducing a district-wise medicinal map of the state to identify the cultivation region of herbs.

He also highlighted the importance of herbal and other alternative medicines in boosting immunity. A sizable number of industries, associations, and large manufacturers from the pharmaceutical sector gathered for the first day of the Expo. Medicines and other drugs were on show, from API to direct manufacturers exhibitors.

The efforts of PHDCCI to give the pharma sector a platform in the heart of India were lauded by all distinguished guests. Having the first of its kind exhibition and summit in Madhya Pradesh gave manufacturers and exhibitors from other states a big boost as well.

During the session, Akash Agrawal highlighted the efforts made by PHDCCI in supporting the pharmaceutical sector with thought leadership and programmes. He emphasized the current economic condition and the high potential of our nation.

Santosh Kumar underlined the significance of the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry’s market potential and possibilities to improve business and the country’s general well-being. He added that over 40% of investments in Indore SEZ are in the pharma sector.

IIM Indore professor Manish Popli spoke on the broad macroeconomic indicators that are driving the India growth story—and the sound state of affairs with the Indian economy, significantly supported by the pharma sector.
