Senior BJP leader and union minister Sarbananda Sonowal expressed confidence in the BJP-led alliance’s performance in Assam, asserting they will secure 12 out of the 14 Lok Sabha seats this time around. Following a meeting at Vajpayee Bhawan in Guwahati on March 18, Sonowal addressed the media, highlighting the BJP’s previous success of securing nine seats in the Lok Sabha. He emphasized that this tally is set to increase to 12, further predicting that the NDA would clinch 22 out of 25 seats in the Northeast region.

Reflecting on past electoral challenges, Sonowal noted the BJP’s strategic alliance with the AGP in the 2019 general elections, which yielded significant victories. He recalled his tenure as chief minister of Assam during that period, underscoring the collaborative efforts that led to the BJP’s success.

Sarbananda Sonowal credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for fostering a robust national environment through effective governance over the past decade, anticipating a third consecutive NDA government at the national level.

In the upcoming elections, Sonowal will contest as the BJP candidate from the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency. Meanwhile, opposition candidates Lurinjyoti Gogoi of the Assam Jatiya Parishad and Manoj Dhanowar representing the United Opposition Forum of Assam and the Aam Aadmi Party will vie against Sonowal in the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency.
