Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed confidence on March 15, asserting that the BJP-led alliance is poised to secure victory in 13 out of 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in Assam during the upcoming parliamentary polls.

“We are confident of winning 13 seats in Assam this time. Prime Minister Modi is set to serve for a consecutive third term. This election delineates a contest between Modi and Rahul Gandhi,” Sarma remarked.

He emphasized that the BJP’s election campaign will centre on economic and socio-development themes.

“As the chief minister of Assam, I am sanguine about witnessing further development in the state. The architect of this development is Narendra Modi. Our election campaign will focus on identifying areas where government schemes such as the Orunodoi Scheme, PM Awas Yojana, etc., have not yet reached. It will be an economic and socio-development-oriented campaign,” Sarma stated.

Highlighting his administration’s achievements, Sarma mentioned the distribution of 42 lakh ration cards and 1 crore PM Ayushman Cards and CM Ayushman Cards during his tenure.

“Assam’s Vikas Yatra commenced on February 29 and concluded today in Hojai. We have distributed 42 lakh ration cards and 1 crore PM Ayushman Cards & CM Ayushman Cards. PM Modi and HM Amit Shah have visited Assam twice, while Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also attended two rallies in the state,” he added.

Himanta Biswa Sarma stressed that Assam would set a precedent for the entire nation by demonstrating how elections can be leveraged for development-oriented politics.

“PM Modi has visited Assam 27 times since 2014, advocating for Assam tea among other initiatives. Elections serve as a platform for development-oriented politics, and Assam is poised to lead by example. We have devised a systematic approach to identify individuals yet to benefit from government schemes,” Sarma affirmed.

He disclosed plans to visit 100 assembly constituencies in Assam during the election campaign, underscoring achievements such as the enrollment of over 600 minority community students in medical seats over the past two years.
