NCC excellence awards recognize outstanding cadets and officers in Northeast region

Directorate General of National Cadet Corps (DG-NCC) hosted an awards ceremony at Narengi in Guwahati on March 14 honoring the dedication and exemplary performance of National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets, associate NCC officers (ANO), girl cadet instructors (GCI), and principals of leading NCC institutions across the seven states within the NCC Directorate of the North Eastern Region.

The event, which served as a platform to celebrate the commitment, leadership, and achievements demonstrated by cadets, institutions, and officers within the NCC fraternity, witnessed the participation of distinguished guests, including Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh, DG-NCC, who attended as the chief guest.

Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh presented banners and trophies to the best NCC group, colleges, and schools for NCC (one per state) across the Northeast. The ceremony, attended by various army dignitaries, including Maj Gen Gagan Deep, ADG, NCC Directorate NER, was a much-awaited event, inspiring the entire NCC community in the region.

Addressing the audience, DG-NCC commended the awardees for their dedication and commitment to the values of the National Cadet Corps. “The NCC plays a vital role in shaping the character and leadership skills of our youth, instilling in them a sense of discipline, patriotism, and service to the nation. Today, we celebrate the achievements of our cadets, officers, and principals who embody the spirit of the NCC,” he said.

Speaking on the expansion of three lakh additional vacancies in NCC announced by Union defence minister Rajnath Singh a day before, DG-NCC stated: “It is great to see the enthusiasm among youth to join NCC. It will be a proportionate expansion across the country and all cadets will be trained well.”

He extended congratulations to Maj Gen Gagan Deep, ADG NCC Directorate NER, and Brigadier Dinar Dighe, NCC Guwahati Group Commander, for the successful conduct of the ceremony, acknowledging their efforts in making the event a resounding success.
