Nehru Yuva Kendra Pasighat organized the Neighbourhood Youth Parliament of East Siang district at the auditorium of the District Institute of Education & Training (DIET) Pasighat, on March 22.

The programme aims to create an institutional platform at various levels, where youth can articulate their views on various issues and draw the attention of the local administration to such issues/concerns affecting their lives by providing them first-hand exposure to engaging in dialogue with fellow youth within the framework of parliamentary procedures through a mock parliament initiative.

Addressing the gathering in his inaugural speech, DIET principal Tapnag Taki, the event’s chief guest, encouraged the youth to be actively involved in such initiatives to develop leadership qualities and to enable themselves to realize their full potential to contribute to the nation-building process.

The District Youth officer (DYO) of Nehru Yuva Kendra Pasighat, Mahit Rabha, in his session explained about the MYBharat portal and how it will benefit the youth if they register themselves as a youth on the portal. He also urged the participants to be peer advocates to support local products by following the ‘vocal for local’ motto of the government.

As part of the initiative, a mock parliament was conducted on the topic of drug abuse as per the implementation guidelines of the programme. After the conclusion of the mock parliament, an interactive quiz was also conducted for the audience. The participants of the mock parliament were felicitated with certificates. The best performer of the mock parliament was presented with a token gift and memento by the organizer.

Nehru Yuva Kendra Pasighat expressed its gratitude to all the esteemed guests, participants, and supporters for their valuable contribution towards the success of the Neighbourhood Youth Parliament 2024 of East Siang district.
