Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed confidence in the outcome of the second phase of Lok Sabha elections, stating that the BJP performed exceptionally well in Assam. According to him, the BJP is poised to win four out of the five seats contested in the state, with a significant margin.

He highlighted the robust voter turnout in the second phase, with 77.35% of voters casting their ballots across five parliamentary constituencies in Assam. Specific turnout figures were provided for each constituency, ranging from 73.11% to 80.56%.

The third phase of polling in four Lok Sabha seats in Assam is scheduled for May 7, with over 81 lakh voters expected to participate. A total of 47 candidates will be contesting in this phase.

The second phase of polling also encompassed constituencies across various other states, including Kerala, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Tripura, Manipur, and Jammu and Kashmir.

The first phase of voting, held on April 19, witnessed over 62% voter turnout across 102 constituencies in 21 states and union territories. The counting of votes for all seven phases of the Lok Sabha polls is slated for June 4, 2024.
