Sarbananda Sonowal

Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal emphasized the BJP’s commitment to tangible development over mere political rhetoric during his campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Lakhimpur and Dibrugarh constituencies on April 5. He criticized the Congress, labelling their governance as primarily symbolic and lacking in substantive progress on critical infrastructure projects.

Sarbananda Sonowal highlighted specific achievements under the Modi government, particularly in infrastructure development, citing the completion of major bridges that significantly improved accessibility for the local population. He emphasized the contrast between the BJP’s proactive approach to addressing public needs and what he characterized as the Congress’ historical neglect and inefficacy.

Notably, Sarbananda Sonowal praised the completion of the Bogibeel and Dhola-Sadiya bridges, which he claimed were initiated under the NDA government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee and completed during Modi’s tenure. He positioned these achievements as emblematic of the BJP’s commitment to translating promises into tangible outcomes for the benefit of the people.

In his address to various communities within the constituencies, including tea workers, Sonowal emphasized the transformative impact of Modi’s leadership on bridging the geographical and developmental gaps between Delhi and the Northeast. He underscored the BJP’s sustained engagement with the region, symbolized by numerous visits from top government officials, as evidence of their commitment to inclusive development.

Throughout his campaign, Sonowal championed Pradan Baruah, the BJP candidate for the Lakhimpur constituency, citing his track record of community engagement and infrastructure development. He urged constituents to support Baruah based on his demonstrated dedication to public service and addressing local concerns.

Sonowal’s campaign narrative positioned the BJP as the proactive force delivering tangible progress, contrasting sharply with what he portrayed as the Congress’ legacy of symbolic gestures and unfulfilled promises. His emphasis on development and accountability resonated with constituents, framing the upcoming elections as a choice between rhetoric and results.
