Meghalaya Police recovered live anti-aircraft ammunition from a forest in South Garo Hills district on April 25.
The police recovered 340 live anti-aircraft ammunition stashed inside four boxes from the jungle surrounding Chibokgre village under Chokpot police station.
Police suspected that the ammunition was hidden by suspected Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) or the outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA).
Such stashed ammunition and sophisticated arms were also recovered in the past based on information received from sources about militant groups hiding these inside deep jungles of Garo Hills close to India-Bangladesh border.
