Former Union minister and present BJP MLA candidate from Pasighat West assembly constituency in Arunachal Pradesh, Ninong Ering escaped a road accident with minor injuries on April 13.

Ninong Ering met with the accident while he was out on an election campaign trail, police said.

The mishap occurred at Sile village in East Siang district along the National Highway-515 when the four-wheeler carrying the former parliamentarian crashed into a vehicle near BJP’s camp office at Sile.

“He (Ninong Ering) sustained minor injuries in the accident and there is no cause for worry,” East Siang SP Sachin Singhal said.

The leader was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and later discharged from the hospital after initial treatment, his family sources said.

The former MP is contesting the April 19 assembly polls on a BJP ticket. This will be Ering’s second consecutive term as MLA if he gets elected. He had deserted the Congress and joined the saffron party in February, days before the announcement of the election schedule, giving a major setback to the grand old party.
