The Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency, one of the 17 Lok Sabha (Lower House of Parliament) constituencies in Telangana state in southern India, will see a tough fight between the BJP’s Arvind Dharmapuri and Congress’ Tatiparthi Jeevan Reddy in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
Currently, the incumbent Member of Parliament from the Nizamabad constituency is the BJP’s Dharmapuri Arvind.
Voting for all 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana, including Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency, will be held in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha polling on May 13; the results will be announced on June 4.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) won the seat. The TRS candidate, Kalvakuntla Kavitha, secured 42.5 per cent of the votes.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Dharmapuri Arvind of the BJP won the seat. He secured 45.22 per cent of the votes, defeating the TRS candidate, Kalvakuntla Kavitha, who secured 38.6 per cent of the votes.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju recently highlighted ground reports indicating that the Congress party may face a tough time in the upcoming elections.
According to Rijiju, voters’ were disappointment stems with unfulfilled promises made during the recent state assembly elections.
“This time, from the ground report I have seen in Telangana, Congress will be in minus. People voted for Congress due to anger towards BRS, but after coming to power, Congress failed to fulfil its promises,” he said on Monday.
“Congress has not fulfilled the promises they made to the people. Now, the BJP is the only alternative, and under the leadership of PM Modi, only the BJP can work for the development of tribals and farmers,” added Rijiju.
Union Minister and Telangana BJP Chief G Kishan Reddy claimed that the BJP will win double-digit seats in Secunderabad. He added that people want PM Modi to continue as the PM.
G Kishan Reddy said, “In Telangana, BJP has started its election campaign. PM Narendra Modi addressed 5 election rallies. BJP announced 17 candidates and started door-to-door campaigns. I believe the BJP will win seats in double digits here. The people want PM Narendra Modi to become the Prime Minister again. BRS will lose all its deposits. The role and contribution of the Congress party is not clear. The opposition has no candidate for the Prime Minister. There is no doubt that PM Modi will take the oath as the Prime Minister for the 3rd time in the second week of June.” (ANI)
