Amid polling for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections, Samajwadi Party candidate from Mainpuri constituency Dimple Yadav said that Samajwadi Party and the alliance are performing well and all regional parties across the country are winning against the BJP.
Dimple Yadav is contesting from the Mainpuri seat, and earlier her daughter Aditi Yadav, campaigned for the party in Mainpuri and urged the people to vote for the party.
Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav said on Friday that the fight for the removal of Electronic Voting Machines (EVM), currently used in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, is a ‘long’ one.
Yadav, who recently announced his candidature from the Kannauj Lok Sabha constituency, also said that though everyone will accept the SC’s judgment on EVMs, the fight against the polling machine will not stop.
“There is a long fight ahead on VVPAT, EVM, and ballot paper. Whatever decision the Supreme Court takes, everybody will accept that, but the fight won’t stop. The fight will go on,” the SP chief said while speaking to reporters in Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj.
At 5 pm nearly 60 per cent voter turnout was recorded across 13 states and union territories. Manipur, Chhattisgarh, Bengal, Assam and Tripura recorded over 70% voter turnout while Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Maharashtra recorded the lowest turnout at 52.6%, 53% and 53.5% respectively
