Bagalkote (Karnataka) [India], April 27: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah called upon the people to make Congress party’s candidate Samyukta Patil win and defeat BJP’s Gaddigowdar this time.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Prajadhwani-2 public convention organized by Bagalkote Lok Sabha constituency candidate Samyukta Patil.
“Gaddigowdar, you did not utter a word on the state’s interest in Parliament for so many years. You neither spoke when floods or drought hit the state nor for the development of the Bagalkote district. Wasn’t it an insult done to the votes cast to you,” The CM questioned MP Gaddigowdar.
He appealed to the people to defeat Gaddigowdar who has not spoken a single word on your behalf and the district for 20 years. “Make Samyukta Patil win this time. She will be the voice of the people of Bagalkot and the state in the Parliament”.
He lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not providing the relief until the Supreme Court intervened.
“A terrible drought has hit the state. We have asked many times for relief from the Centre. We protested in Delhi. However, the state’s share was not paid. We sought the Supreme Court for the justice. Modiji, you deceived the people of Karnataka by not providing the relief until the Supreme Court gives a clear instruction,” he said.
“Modi promised to double the income of farmers. Even though hundreds of farmers died protesting, you did not show any sympathy for the death of these farmers,” he said.
He further added: “If the Congress comes to power at the centre, the loans of the farmers of the entire country will be waived off”.
Earlier in the day, CM Siddaramaiah thanked the Supreme Court for ordering the release of over Rs 34 lakh drought relief assistance from the Union Government for the 2023 Karnataka drought.
He added that it was perhaps the first time in the history of India that a state was driven to the Supreme Court to get its rights enforced.
“After persistent efforts and an appeal to the Supreme Court, we’ve secured Rs 3,498.82 crore in drought relief from the Union Government. I wish to thank the Hon. Supreme Court. This is perhaps the first time in the history of India that a state was driven to the Supreme Court to get its rights enforced. It’s regrettable that we had to wait since September 2023 for a response,” Siddaramaiah said in a post on X.
