Bharatiya Janata Party has alleged that Annamalai’s election team is receiving threats by DMK warning them to leave the city or “suffer consequences”, after polling for Lok Sabha elections concluded in the state of Tamil Nadu.
A Chennai based Industrialist RN Jayaprakash who recently joined BJP in the presence of National BJP President JP Nadda in Chennai is one of Annamalai’s Core team members who has allegedly been targeted by the DMK during the first phase of elections.
RN Jayaprakash, is currently in Bangalore for a BJP roadshow attended by BJP state president Annamalai in support of BJP MP PC Mohan in Bangalore Central constituency.
Jayaprakash told ANI, “I received threatening calls from several highly influential ruling party’s workers in Tamil Nadu warning him to leave Coimbatore city or face dire consequences.”

The industrialist alleged that his name was also mentioned in a complaint written by the legal cell of the DMK along with a few key members of Annamalai’s core team to prevent them from functioning prior to the first phase of elections in Coimbatore.
In a recent speech, PM Modi reaffirmed his commitment to the safety of BJP workers in Tamil Nadu.

“I am here and I’m assuring all my karyakartas that I’m with you & the people of Tamil Nadu are with all of you,” he stated.
Jayaprakash further stated that despite these threats, the core team of Annamalai and the party remains “undeterred” and are even more driven to work towards ground-level transformation in Tamil Nadu.
“Thanks to the support and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji coupled with the people’s movement against the Dravidian Parties stemming from the popularity of Annamalai, the DMK top brass have realised that BJP has gained ground in Tamil Nadu,” Jayaprakash said.
He further claimed that BJP is set to create history in Tamil Nadu by crossing 20 per cent plus vote share individually which will be a significant jump for the party in the state.
“I’m an ardent admirer of PM Modi, a staunch BJP Karyakarta and an Annamalai foot Soldier. I made a vow to our party leaders to strengthen BJP’s ground infrastructure in Tamil Nadu. So these political intimidations are only a sign of insecurity by the DMK party after witnessing BJP’s growth in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape,” Jayaprakash added.
India is undergoing a massive democratic exercise with the 18th Lok Sabha elections being held across seven phases. While the first phase concluded on April 19, the next phase will take place on April 26. The counting of votes is scheduled on June 4.
Tamil Nadu sent 39 MPs to the Parliament and polling for all the seats was held on April 19. In 2019 elections, DMK-Congress alliance swept the polls by winning 38 seats, while AIADMK could win one seat. BJP failed to open its account
