A night bus travelling from Agartala to Guwahati met with an accident in Dima Hasao district on May 1 midnight leading to the death of a passenger and leaving several others critically injured.
The accident occurred near Ditokcherra, around 28 km from Haflong.
Reports said that the bus veered off the highway and overturned at around 12:30 am on May 2.
The critically injured passengers were taken to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) in Silchar for treatment.
The bus was carrying aspirants of Tripura State Cooperative Bank recruitment examination.
Initial reports said that at least 30 passengers sustained injuries in the accident, with six of them in critical condition.
The Agartala-Guwahati route is already witnessing surge in passenger traffic due to cancellation of several trains after a goods train accident disrupted train movement since April 25.
