Delhi University Vice Chancellor Prof Yogesh Singh flagged off the “Run for Viksit Bharat” and urged all students to vote for strengthening democracy and expressed hope that many good things will happen in the country in the next 25 years.
The event was organised at the University of Delhi.
On this occasion, more than 5,000 students from various colleges and departments participated in the run. This run was organised at 7 am from gate number one of the university, passed through gate number 4 and ended in the sports complex of the university. On this occasion, Saina Nehwal, the first Indian badminton player to win an Olympic medal and actor and alumnus of DU’s ARSD College, Rajkumar Rao, were present as special guests.
The Vice Chancellor who was the Chief guest on the occasion, said, “We all want Bharat to move forward and become better. We all should have our own contribution to that.”
He called upon the students to “vote themselves and motivate 10-10 people to vote” and said that “this work of yours will strengthen democracy” and “many good things will happen in the country in the next 25 years.”
He said, “Only when you people do good, it will be good for the country. This country belongs to us. It is up to us to make it better and contribute our bit. We should not become complainers, but should become givers in our lives.”
Giving the example of Saina Nehwal and Rajkumar Rao, the Vice Chancellor said, “Just as they have brought glory to the country, all of you should also pledge in your lives to bring glory to the country.”
