Night curfew timings in Assam have been reduced while inter-district movement has been allowed on all week days, though weekend lockdown will remain in force in the entire state as measures to prevent spread of COVID-19.
Chief secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna on August 13 issued modified guidelines for the state, which will come into effect from 5 am of August 16 and will be effective till 9.30 pm of August 31.
Under the new relaxations all permitted activities as per earlier orders will be allowed to remain open from 5 am to 9 pm from Monday to Friday, and shops on both sides of the road can open on all week days.
Instead of 12-hour night curfew, the timing has been reduced from 9.30 pm to 5 am when movement of all individuals will be prohibited.
Inter-district movement of vehicles and people has been allowed on all week days with 50 percent passenger capacity allowed in vehicles. Public transport, including city buses in Guwahati, has been allowed, subject to 50 percent of capacity and other safety protocols.
Social, political, sports, entertainment, religious, academic and other large congregations have been allowed with attendance not exceeding 50 people.
However, cinema halls, entertainment parks, auditoriums, swimming pools, theatres, assembly halls and other similar places of public gathering will remain closed.
Wearing of masks will remain compulsory at public places and all COVID-19 related safety protocols shall remain in force.
Altogether 68,999 COVID-19 cases have been detected in the state, out of which 161 have died and over 47,000 have recovered.
