Members of the newly formed Sikkim Against Citizenship Amendment Act (SACAA) on December 22 demanded the implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in the state stating that they will not accept the provisions of the CAA.
“Government should have called all the stakeholders, but in the absence of any such happening, Sikkim Against CAA has been formed. CAA, has created confusion here. Exemption from the amended act is also required in Sikkim, like other states,” SACAA Coordinator Passang Sherpa said.
“Why cannot 12 MLAs of BJP bring a bill for exemption? They should bring the bill in the state assembly on it. We cannot rest (on verbal assurances given by central and state leaders). People of Sikkim need immediate solution,” activist Nabin Kiran Pradhan said.
