An army aviation Cheetah helicopter crashed near Bomdila in Arunachal Pradesh on March 16.

The ill-fated chopper was flying an operational sortie near Bomdila and was reported to have lost contact with the ATC at around 9:15 am on March 16.

“It is reported to have crashed near Mandala, west of Bomdila. Search parties have been launched,” said an Indian army spokesperson.

Search parties have been launched to locate the crash site and assess the situation. It is not yet known how many people were on board or whether there were any survivors.

The cause of the crash was yet to be ascertained. More details will be shared soon, the spokesperson added.
