The troops of the Border Security Force (BSF) recovered a packet of suspected heroin from Punjab’s Fazilka district on the intervening night of Thursday.
The BSF troops tracked down the movement of a drone near Raitewali Bhaini village in Fazilka district during a search operation based on intelligence. A packet of suspected heroin weighing approximately 550 grams was recovered by the troops during the search operation, the officials said.
“In the intervening night of May 8-9, 2024, based on a specific input, a special ambush was planned by BSF on the outskirt of Village Raitewali Bhaini in Fazilka District. During the operation, vigilant BSF troops intercepted the movement of a drone on the border. As per the laiddown drill, BSF troops tracked down the movement of the drone,” they said.
The officials further said that the packet was wrapped in yellow adhesive tape with one steel ring and 02 illumination strips attached to it.
“As the troops were carrying out the operation, a local villager informed them about the dropping of a suspected packet in his house by a drone. BSF troops rushed to the spot, cordoned the area and conducted a search. At about 00:01 hrs on May 9, 2024, troops successfully recovered 1 packet (gross weight: 550 grammes) of suspected heroin from the house of village Raitewali Bhaini in Fazilka District,” they added
